Former United States president Donald Trump said he was very angry over an alleged attack on Vladimir Putin’s residence during sensitive peace talks.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed Ukraine launched the drone strike in Russia’s Novgorod region.
The incident was reported to have occurred late Sunday night and into early Monday morning.
Russian authorities said air defence systems intercepted and destroyed ninety one long range drones.
Lavrov warned that “such reckless actions will not go unanswered,” following the reported attack.
Ukraine strongly denied responsibility for any strike on Putin’s residence.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed the allegation as false.
This is a complete fabrication and typical Russian lies.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy added Ukraine would not take actions that could undermine diplomacy efforts.
Trump told reporters that Putin personally informed him of the alleged incident.
Trump criticised the timing of the attack amid ongoing peace negotiations.
I don’t like it it’s not good.
Donald Trump said.
He said the situation was unfolding during a “delicate period of time.”
Trump suggested there was a difference between battlefield operations and personal attacks.
It’s one thing to be offensive and another thing to attack his house.
Donald Trump said.
He said he learned of the alleged strike directly from Putin.
I was very angry about it.
Donald Trump said.
Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said the incident could affect negotiations with Ukraine.
Ushakov said Russia would review previous agreements and understandings.
Russian officials said the review would cover a broad range of diplomatic solutions.
Reuters reported Russian officials relayed the same message to Trump earlier this week.
The comments came a day after Trump hosted Zelenskyy in Florida.
Zelenskyy said the talks included a proposed peace plan.
He said the plan featured strong security guarantees for Ukraine.
Trump made the remarks at his Mar a Lago residence.
He was also hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the time.
The meeting focused on the next phase of peace efforts in Gaza.
Trump also issued fresh warnings directed at Iran.
He said the United States could strike Iran again if nuclear rebuilding continued.
If they are rebuilding we will knock them down.
Donald Trump said.
Trump added that Iran should pursue a diplomatic agreement.
He said Tehran missed a previous opportunity to make a deal.
The comments highlighted Trump’s continued involvement in global security discussions.
