Ripple has burned 45 million RLUSD over the past week, including a 10 million token destruction in its latest move, signalling a net contraction in stablecoin supply.

The activity follows a series of large transactions, with 30 million RLUSD burned in a single day, far exceeding the 10 million tokens minted during the same period.

The latest burn was detected by blockchain tracker @RL_Tracker, highlighting continued heavy supply adjustments by Ripple’s stablecoin treasury.

The company said such burns are a standard mechanism for fully-backed stablecoins, occurring when users redeem RLUSD for US dollars, ensuring supply matches underlying reserves.

Minting, by contrast, takes place when new capital enters the system, requiring Ripple to issue additional tokens to maintain the peg.

The recent imbalance between burning and minting suggests either significant institutional outflows or active treasury management to rebalance liquidity.

These supply swings reflect the operational lifecycle of RLUSD, with large on-chain movements increasingly drawing scrutiny as adoption and usage evolve.
