Crypto asset manager Bitwise has donated $233,000 to three organisations that support open-source Bitcoin developers, funding the contribution with profits from its Bitcoin ETF.

The donation was distributed to Brink, OpenSats and the Human Rights Foundation’s Bitcoin Development Fund, which all support engineers maintaining the Bitcoin network.

“Open-source developers are the unsung heroes of Bitcoin, donating their time to secure the network and uphold its integrity,”

Said Bitwise Asset Management co-founder and CTO Hong Kim.

The funding was generated from Bitwise’s Bitcoin ETF, BITB, which currently manages more than $2.7 billion in assets under management.

The donation marks the firm’s second annual contribution to Bitcoin developers after it distributed $150,000 to the same organisations in 2025.

Bitwise said it supports groups with a “deep-rooted commitment” to maintaining and improving the Bitcoin protocol.

The asset manager, which oversees about $15 billion in total assets and more than 40 crypto investment products, previously donated ETF profits to Ethereum open-source developers through its spot Ether ETF.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $72,654.63.
