The handover from OCI Global follows the completion of rigorous performance testing at the Southeast Texas site.
The transition cements Woodside’s 100% acquisition of OCI Clean Ammonia Holding, originally initiated in September 2024 for an all-cash consideration of approximately $2.35 billion.
With the assumption of control, Woodside has now settled the final 20% residual payment, accounting for closing adjustments.
The BNA facility represents a massive industrial undertaking, boasting a nameplate capacity of 1.1 million tonnes per annum.
Industry analysts suggest the plant has the potential to nearly double total US ammonia exports, providing a significant boost to regional economic growth.
While conventional ammonia production commenced in December 2025, Woodside noted that the shift toward lower-carbon ammonia output is now projected for after 2026.
The revised timeline is attributed to construction delays at a third-party feedstock supply facility.
Woodside CEO Liz Westcott characterised the milestone as a core component of the company’s strategy to lead in new energy products.
Despite current market volatility, the firm remains aggressive in its commercial approach, having already secured several offtake agreements at prevailing market prices.
Woodside continues to progress further sale agreements to align with the anticipated production ramp-up.
