Synertec (ASX:SOP) has formalised a contract with TasNetworks to deploy six of its proprietary Powerhouse Battery Energy Storage Systems.

The initiative is bolstered by funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency under its Advancing Renewables Program, marking a pivotal expansion for Synertec into the rapidly evolving distribution-network battery sector.

The project involves the installation of standalone, "front-of-the-meter" community batteries across various strategic locations in Tasmania’s distribution network.

To ensure high levels of community acceptance, each unit is engineered to adhere to stringent footprint, visual, and acoustic criteria.

The systems represent more than just storage; they are sophisticated hubs integrating advanced battery technology, power conversion systems, and an intelligent control architecture.

The utility provider intends to use the six-unit pilot to determine how community-scale storage can effectively strengthen local network reliability and expand the grid's capacity to host increasing amounts of rooftop solar energy.

Furthermore, data harvested from these operations will provide the foundational insights required to develop future electricity tariff structures that better reflect modern energy usage.

At the time of reporting, Synertec's share price was $0.026.
