National power and communications infrastructure provider GenusPlus Group (ASX:GNP) has confirmed it will proceed with construction on the Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone sub-transmission line, following a contract awarded by Ausgrid.
The project, previously contingent on the execution of a project deed between Ausgrid and the Energy Corporation of New South Wales, will now move forward independently, with construction set to commence in February 2026.
The works involve the demolition of 86km of existing 132kV and 66kV sub-transmission lines and the construction of 106km of new 132kV and 66kV dual and single-circuit sub-transmission lines from Kurri Sub-Transmission Station to the new Eastern Hub switching station.
Additional works include building 4km of dual-circuit 132kV lines from Muswellbrook Switching Station to the Muswellbrook bulk supply point, replacing 30km of earthwire with optical ground wire, and installing 2km of ADSS fibre optic cable.
