The Aurora 140-megawatt Battery Energy Storage System has secured a major regulatory milestone after the Australian Energy Market Operator and South Australian transmission operator ElectraNet accepted its proposed Generator Performance Standards under the National Electricity Rules, clearing the way for grid connection.

The approvals confirm that the project will not adversely impact system strength and are valid for 12 months, subject to execution of a transmission connection agreement.

Managed by 1414 Degrees (ASX:14D) on behalf of site leaseholder SiliconAurora, which has invested more than $3.5 million in studies and approvals, the project will now advance final technical work, connection agreements and power purchase negotiations.

The milestone also strengthens the Aurora Renewable Energy Precinct’s role as the first component of a proposed Continuous Energy Hub.

At the time of reporting, 1414 Degrees’ share price was $0.031.
