AMP (ASX:AMP) has appointed Blair Vernon as its new Group CEO, following an extensive internal and external search.
Current CEO Alexis George will retire from executive roles on March 30, after leading the company through a period of significant transformation and growth since August 2021.
Vernon, AMP's CFO, brings over 30 years of experience in the financial services sector across Australia and New Zealand, having previously served in senior leadership roles including CEO of New Zealand Wealth Management and Acting CEO of AMP Australia.
AMP Chair Mike Hirst thanked George for her leadership, highlighting her role in streamlining the organisation, completing the sale of AMP Capital and the Advice business, and building a customer-focused culture
"Alexis has delivered strategic initiatives that will underpin AMP's next phase of growth and built a strong executive team to maintain momentum," Hirst said.
George reflected on her tenure, saying, "Leading AMP, a company integral to Australia and New Zealand, has been an honour."
Blair Vernon said he was "privileged to take on the leadership of AMP” and looked forward to continuing the company’s strategic ambitions while delivering positive outcomes for customers, shareholders, and employees.
A process will also be undertaken to appoint a new CFO.
George will remain in her role until March 30 to support the transition, with her contractual incentives treated as previously disclosed.
