Sam Blackshear, the creator of the Move programming language, shared insights with Cointelegraph about its application in the blockchain technology of Aptos, Sei, and Sui.

Originally developed at Facebook for the Diem cryptocurrency project, which was ultimately halted by U.S. lawmakers, Move was designed to specifically cater to blockchain applications.

Despite Diem's cancellation, Blackshear and his team redirected their efforts to find other uses for Move, leading to its adoption by numerous successful blockchains, including Aptos, Sei, and Sui, where Blackshear is now the chief technology officer at Mysten Labs.

Blackshear explained that the discontinuation of Facebook's Diem project marked a new chapter for Move rather than its end.

He asserts that Move presents a superior option for blockchain development compared to other languages like Solidity and Rust, attributing its advantages to its design and capabilities tailored specifically for blockchain technology.
