Uber Technologies (NYSE:UBER) today announced a definitive agreement to acquire Blacklane, a premier global chauffeur service, marking a significant escalation in Uber’s strategy to dominate the high-margin luxury and corporate travel segments.
The acquisition, announced on March 30, 2026, aligns with Uber's "Uber Elite" initiative and aims to provide a seamless, high-touch experience for discerning travelers and global corporations.
Founded in Berlin in 2011, Blacklane has established itself as a hallmark of consistency in the premium mobility space, operating in over 500 cities across more than 60 countries.
The company specializes in connecting guests with independent, local professional chauffeurs through a sophisticated booking platform.
By bringing Blacklane’s hospitality expertise and specialized knowledge in-house, Uber intends to enhance its pre-booked "Uber Reserve" offerings, which have already become one of the fastest-growing sectors of its mobility business.
The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
Post-acquisition, Blacklane is expected to provide the operational backbone for Uber’s recently launched chauffeur sector, allowing the combined entity to offer a wider spectrum of options—ranging from daily commutes to ultra-luxury, planned executive transport.
