TotalEnergies adds 6,000 barrels per day in Angola
- TotalEnergies (NYSE:TTE) announced the Acacia-5 oil discovery on Angola’s Block 17, with first oil planned three months after discovery.
- The company said Acacia-5 is expected to increase Block 17 production by 6,000 barrels per day using existing FPSO capacity.
- TotalEnergies is expanding exploration in Angola through new operated interests in Blocks 17/25 and 32/21.
TotalEnergies (NYSE:TTE) announced the Acacia-5 oil discovery on Angola’s Block 17, with the project expected to add 6,000 barrels per day to production.
The discovery follows another exploration success announced in 2026 on Block 0, where TotalEnergies holds a 10% interest, as the company continues expanding its offshore activities in Angola.
The Acacia-5 development will use available capacity on the Pazflor FPSO, allowing first oil to be achieved three months after the June 2026 discovery, while TotalEnergies also signed agreements to enter Blocks 17/25 and 32/21 with a 40% operated interest.
TotalEnergies holds a 38% operated interest in Block 17 alongside Equinor with 22.16%, ExxonMobil with 19%, Azule Energy with 15.84%, and Sonangol E&P with 5%.
The company said its Angola strategy includes continued exploration across offshore basins, including a February 2026 agreement to farm into Blocks 40, 41, 42, and 58 in the Benguela Basin with ExxonMobil.
