Textron Aviation Defense, a subsidiary of Textron (NYSE:TXT), has been awarded a five-year U.S. government contract valued at more than $150 million.

The agreement ensures the continued provision of Sustaining Engineering and Program Management (SEPM) services for the United States military’s primary trainer aircraft, the T-6 Texan II.

The contract extension, announced Monday, covers the T-6A, T-6B, and T-6D variants operated across the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Army.

This follow-on action expands upon a base contract first awarded in 2021, providing for essential systems engineering, maintenance support, structural integrity programs, and aircraft modifications.

With this latest modification, the total cumulative face value of the SEPM contract has increased to a $510 million ceiling, more than doubling the previous $240 million limit.

The scale of the award underscores the Pentagon’s long-term commitment to the T-6 platform as the cornerstone of its foundational pilot training programs.

Work on the contract will be centralized in Wichita, Kansas, the primary hub for Textron’s defense aviation manufacturing and engineering.

The T-6 Texan II is utilized by over 20 countries globally to train pilots, but the U.S. fleet remains the largest and most active user of the platform.
