Sysco (NYSE:SYY) reached an agreement with Teamsters Locals 630 and 848 on October 15, 2026, to end a Los Angeles strike involving warehouse workers and delivery drivers.
The strike began on October 11 and involved nearly 500 workers, with the company and unions previously disputing proposed contract language despite agreeing on economic terms.
"This agreement represents an important step toward restoring normal operations while preserving our ability to provide the dependable, responsive service our customers expect," said Sysco Chief Human Resources Officer Ron Phillips.
The agreement covers warehouse employees represented by Local 630 and delivery workers represented by Local 848, although Sysco did not disclose final contract terms or a timetable for resuming normal operations.
Sysco said the agreement would support efforts to restore distribution services following disruptions affecting customers and communities across Los Angeles
Before the agreement, Sysco stated that its proposed contract included an $8-per-hour wage increase by April 2027, although the unions disputed the company's account of the unresolved contractual issues.
Sysco distributes food and related products to restaurants and other foodservice customers, making warehouse staffing and delivery operations important to its ability to fulfill customer orders.
