
Sony's fiscal first quarter profit rises 32%

Sony Group (NYSE:SONY) reported fiscal first-quarter 2026 net profit of ¥342.2 billion, up 32% year over year, as revenue increased across several business areas.
Quarterly revenue rose 8.2% to ¥2.83 trillion, while operating profit increased 40% to ¥476.5 billion, exceeding analyst expectations.
Sony’s Game & Network Services segment revenue was broadly unchanged at ¥937.1 billion, while operating income increased 37% to ¥202.0 billion, supported partly by U.S. tariff refunds, and Music revenue increased 21%.
Looking ahead, Sony raised its full-year outlook for operating profit to ¥1.72 trillion and net income to ¥1.21 trillion.
The company’s Pictures segment revenue declined 13% to ¥1.98 billion due to lower television series deliveries and reduced theatrical releases during the quarter.
Sony operates across gaming, entertainment, music, imaging, financial services and technology markets, with PlayStation remaining a key contributor to its earnings.
