  • Redwire secured a contract to supply its Penguin Mk2.5 VTOL drone system to Taiwan Color Optics for the Taiwan Coast Guard.
  • The program supports Taiwan’s maritime surveillance and law enforcement capabilities under a multi-phase deployment.
  • The system is designed for long-endurance intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions in coastal environments.

Redwire (NYSE:RDW) announced it has been awarded a contract by Taiwan Color Optics, a subsidiary of SemiLux International, to deliver its Penguin Mk2.5 VTOL uncrewed aerial system to the Taiwan Coast Guard.

The agreement is part of Taiwan’s broader maritime security and defense resilience planning focused on expanding long-endurance surveillance capabilities.

“Our Penguin Mk2.5 VTOL aircraft is field proven for successful execution of all-weather monitoring and advanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations,” said Redwire Defense Tech Co-President and Chief Growth Officer Josh Stinson.

Redwire said the first tranche of the program marks an initial phase in deploying uncrewed systems for maritime monitoring and law enforcement missions.

The company said the Penguin Mk2.5 VTOL was selected for its vertical takeoff and landing capability and integrated electro-optical and infrared payload systems.

Redwire also said the platform is designed for rapid deployment and can operate in harsh environments while tracking small moving maritime targets.
