Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) initiated a federal trial in Delaware to freeze royalty payments to Arm Holdings (NASDAQ:ARM) for up to five years over alleged contract breaches.

The trial escalates an ongoing legal battle between the two technology companies following a prior contract lawsuit filed in 2022.

Qualcomm stated that Arm withheld vital chip testing tools and leaked contract termination threats to damage prospective sales deals with Meta Platforms.

Following the announcement, Qualcomm's share price was unchanged at $168.50.

SoftBank Group owned Arm has increasingly competed with its primary semiconductor customers by designing and releasing its own finished chips.

Qualcomm continues expanding into data center processors while relying on technology agreements with Arm that extend through 2033.
