Petrobras (NYSE:PBR) submitted an expression of interest to explore four offshore blocks in Ghana’s Keta Basin as part of efforts to expand its oil and gas reserves.

Ghana’s Ministry of Energy and Green Transition approved Petrobras’ application to begin negotiations for exploration contracts covering the offshore blocks.

The company said the negotiations will focus on defining the terms of potential exploration agreements, with no final contracts or investment commitments announced.

Petrobras said the initiative aligns with its Business Plan strategy of replenishing oil and gas reserves through exploration opportunities in Brazil and international markets.

The company said evaluating new exploration areas is intended to diversify its portfolio and support long-term business sustainability.

The Keta Basin opportunity represents Petrobras’ latest international exploration review as the company assesses potential additions to its upstream operations.
