Organon (NYSE:OGN) finalized a global licensing agreement with Sebela Pharmaceuticals for a hormone-free birth control device that is 99% effective.

The medical asset represents the first hormone-free copper intrauterine device introduced in the United States in over 40 years.

"MIUDELLA represents an important hormone-free option in contraception, expanding choices for women seeking long‑acting reversible birth control," said Organon Chief Executive Officer Joe Morrissey.

The product prevents pregnancy for up to three years using a preloaded inserter with a 3.7mm tube diameter.

Following the announcement, Organon share price was up at $13.42.

The company will launch the product through a risk management program to mitigate potential improper insertion complications.

Management stated that the commercial launch of the treatment option inside the United States is scheduled for late 2026.
