NIO deliveries jump 23% as multi-brand strategy gains momentum
NIO (NYSE:NIO) reported a significant acceleration in vehicle deliveries for April 2026, handing over 29,356 vehicles to customers.
The figure represents a 22.8% increase compared to the same month last year.
The company’s year-to-date performance was even more robust, with total deliveries reaching 112,821 vehicles, a 71.% surge over the 2025 period.
As of April 30, 2026, NIO’s cumulative deliveries surpassed the 1.1 million milestone, reaching 1,110,413 units.
The month's delivery breakdown highlights the successful execution of NIO’s three-brand strategy.
The premium NIO brand delivered 19,024 vehicles, while the family-oriented ONVO brand contributed 5,352 units.
The company’s newest entry, the high-end compact brand FIREFLY, added 4,980 vehicles to the total.
This diversified approach is designed to capture market share across different price points as competition in the Chinese EV market intensifies.
A major highlight for the quarter was the performance of the All-New ES8.
On April 23, the flagship SUV hit 100,000 cumulative deliveries just 215 days after its market debut.
This milestone set a new industry record for delivery speed among premium passenger vehicles priced above RMB 400,000 ($58,000) in China, underscoring NIO’s dominance in the high-end executive segment.
Looking to sustain this growth, NIO launched pre-sales for two critical models in April: the executive flagship ES9 SUV and the ONVO L80, a large five-seat SUV.
The ES9 is positioned as the culmination of a decade of technological innovation, while the L80 targets the mass-market family segment with a starting price of 245,800 yuan ($35,940).
Both models are expected to begin high-volume deliveries in the second half of the year.
The company also showcased its "A Vast New Realm" theme at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, where it unveiled 11 models and 12 full-stack technologies.
Beyond hardware, NIO is aggressively expanding its Silk Road Power Swap Route, a 3,448-kilometer charging network designed to facilitate long-distance travel across Western China, further strengthening its unique battery-swapping ecosystem as a key competitive moat.
