National Fuel completes $2.62 billion Ohio gas utility acquisition

National Fuel Gas Company (NYSE:NFG) completed its acquisition of CenterPoint Energy’s Ohio natural gas utility business, Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio, expanding its regulated utility operations.

The acquired company will be renamed National Fuel Gas Distribution of Ohio and will continue serving approximately 335,000 customers across 16 counties in the Dayton and greater Miami Valley region.

The acquisition doubles National Fuel’s utility rate base, which represents the regulated asset base used to determine utility returns, and increases the company’s utility customer base to approximately 1.1 million customers.

National Fuel stated that the transaction creates additional opportunities for regulated infrastructure investment and long-term utility growth.

Natural gas service will continue without interruption, and customers do not need to take any action. Existing billing schedules, payment methods and online account access will remain unchanged during the transition period.
