MIRA Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:MIRA) reported new preclinical data for Mira-55, its cannabinoid analog candidate for the treatment of chronic inflammatory pain.

Mira-55 engages cannabinoid receptors via a mechanism distinct from THC, while avoiding THC-like central nervous system effects.

The compound also demonstrated anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing) activity that THC does not produce.

Mira-55 previously delivered morphine-comparable pain relief without the typical risks associated with opioids.

These results further support the advancement of Mira-55 toward IND-enabling studies in chronic inflammatory pain.

MIRA Pharmaceuticals is developing novel pharmaceutical candidates focused on neurologic and neuropsychiatric disorders as well as pain management.

The company continues to advance its pipeline of cannabinoid-based and other therapeutic candidates with the goal of delivering improved safety and efficacy profiles compared with existing treatments.
