Merck powers ahead as sales rise 5%

Merck (NYSE:MRK) reported second-quarter sales of $16.61 billion, up 5%, as Keytruda and Keytruda QLEX sales reached $8.37 billion.

Sales exceeded analysts’ $16.36 billion estimate, but Merck recorded a $1.34 billion GAAP loss after earning $4.43 billion last year.

GAAP loss was $0.54 per share and adjusted loss was $0.13, including a $2.31 Terns acquisition charge.

Following the announcement, Merck's share price was down 1.8% at $127.77, while 2026 sales guidance rose to $66.3–$67.3 billion.

Merck also completed its $6.8 billion Terns acquisition, adding MK-4208, an experimental treatment for chronic myeloid leukaemia.

Elsewhere, Gardasil sales rose 4% to $1.17 billion, while Animal Health revenue increased 8% to $1.78 billion.
