MediciNova (NASDAQ:MNOV) announced the completion of the last patient’s final visit in the double-blind portion of its Phase 2b/3 COMBAT-ALS trial evaluating MN-166 (ibudilast) for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

The milestone was reached on September 24, 2026, marking completion of the placebo-controlled treatment phase of the study.

The COMBAT-ALS trial enrolled 234 participants across clinical sites in the United States and Canada.

Patients were randomized into two treatment groups during the 12-month double-blind period, followed by a six-month open-label extension.

The primary endpoint of the study is the Combined Assessment of Function and Survival (CAFS), which evaluates disease progression by combining functional outcomes and survival measures.

Participants who remain active in the study are continuing treatment with MN-166 during the open-label extension period.

MediciNova expects to report topline results from the double-blind portion of the study by the end of 2026, while the final patient visit for the complete trial is expected in March 2027.

MN-166 (ibudilast) is an oral therapy designed to target biological pathways associated with neuroinflammation and oxidative stress. Results from the double-blind portion have not yet been reported.
