Innoviz Technologies (NASDAQ:INVZ) reported a decline in first-quarter revenue for 2026 due to shifts in project milestones, but the manufacturer maintained its full-year financial outlook as it begins a strategic diversification into the defense and homeland security sectors.

The developer of high-performance light detection and ranging (LiDAR) hardware posted revenue of $7.1 million for the three months ended March 31, 2026, down from the $17.4 million reported in the opening quarter of the previous year.

Management attributed the lower topline performance to the timing variability of non-recurring engineering (NRE) milestones request-driven adjustments by major clients.

Concurrently, the company’s operating expenses climbed 18% to $24.9 million, up from $21 million in the prior-year period, reflecting continuous asset allocation toward product development and market deployment.

Innoviz concluded the first quarter with total liquidity of $60.1 million, consisting of cash, cash equivalents, short-term deposits, and marketable securities.

Despite the softer first-quarter revenue figures, Innoviz management reaffirmed its full-year 2026 financial guidance.

The company continues to project total annual revenue to land between $67 million and $73 million, signaling an expected operational ramp-up and commercial delivery acceleration in the remaining quarters of the fiscal year.

On the logistics and automotive fronts, Innoviz expanded its integration pipeline by executing a letter of intent (LOI) with automated transit company LOXO.

The firm also advanced its software development milestone alongside an undisclosed, leading autonomous vehicle (AV) partner.

The commercial expansion coincided with the official launch of the InnovizTwo Ultra Long-Range LiDAR system.

According to engineering specifications, the new hardware platform achieves a detection envelope of up to 1 kilometer, designed to unlock ultra-early hazard visibility for autonomous trucking, mass transit, and wide-area perimeter surveillance applications.
