Hubbell raises 2026 outlook as grid modernization drives 16% profit growth

Hubbell Incorporated (NYSE:HUBB) posted a strong start to the 2026 fiscal year, reporting double-digit growth in both its top and bottom lines as the company continues to benefit from secular tailwinds in grid modernization and electrification.

Total net sales for the first quarter rose 11% year-over-year, with organic sales growth contributing a healthy 8.2% to the result.

The company’s profitability reflected significant operational leverage and a favorable product mix.

GAAP diluted earnings per share (EPS) came in at $3.41, while adjusted diluted EPS climbed 16% to $3.93.

Hubbell’s focus on productivity and price realization led to a 110-basis-point expansion in adjusted operating margins, which reached 19.8% for the quarter.

The Utility Solutions segment remained a primary driver of performance, supported by long-term capital spending from power utilities to harden infrastructure and integrate renewable energy sources.

Despite the strong earnings performance, free cash flow for the quarter was a modest $46 million, reflecting typical seasonal working capital requirements and ongoing investment in manufacturing capacity to meet rising demand.

Reflecting the strength of its order backlog and continued demand across its core markets, Hubbell raised its full-year 2026 financial guidance.

The company now expects total sales growth in the range of 8% to 11% for the year.

Management also increased its full-year EPS outlook, signaling confidence that the company can maintain its margin momentum even as global supply chains continue to normalize.
