Fervo Energy (NYSE:FRVO) announced that its Cape Station geothermal project in Utah achieved First Power on September 24, 2026, marking the start of electricity exports from the facility.
The milestone was achieved by the first of three 33 MW GeoBlocks included in Cape Station’s approximately 100 MW Phase I development.
The first GeoBlock is expected to reach its contractual commercial operations date by October 1, 2026.
The remaining two GeoBlocks are currently undergoing commissioning and are expected to reach contractual commercial operation by January 1, 2027.
Fervo said an additional 400 MW phase of Cape Station is under construction, with commercial operations expected in 2028.
The company has approximately 900 MW of Cape Station power offtake fully contracted, supporting long-term demand for the geothermal project.
Cape Station builds on Fervo’s Project Red, which has supplied electricity to the grid since 2023.
