Eli Lilly (NYSE:LLY) reported post-hoc analyses from the Phase 3 ATTAIN-1 trial showing Foundayo was associated with lower modeled 10-year risks of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease in adults with obesity or overweight.
The analyses estimated type 2 diabetes risk reductions of 45%, 50% and 57% versus placebo for Foundayo doses of 5.5 mg, 9 mg and 17.2 mg, respectively, while estimated cardiovascular disease risk reductions were 13%, 15% and 18%.
The post-hoc analyses evaluated 3,127 participants without diabetes who had obesity or overweight with a qualifying medical condition, using modeled risk estimates at 72 weeks rather than observed disease prevention outcomes.
The findings were published in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism and evaluated predicted long-term health risks based on data from the Phase 3 ATTAIN-1 study.
Foundayo is FDA-approved for weight reduction and long-term weight maintenance in eligible adults when used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
