Disc Medicine reports Phase 2 trial results

Disc Medicine (NASDAQ:IRON) reported initial Phase 2 RESTORE-PV results for DISC-3405, showing reduced phlebotomy requirements and stable hematocrit levels in patients with polycythemia vera.

The results showed that treatment increased hepcidin, lowered serum iron, and raised ferritin levels, while mean hematocrit remained below 45% through week 26 compared with the company’s clinical targets.

DISC-3405 was generally well tolerated, with mostly disease-consistent adverse events and mild, self-limited injection site reactions, according to Disc Medicine.

Among 13 patients who completed 26 weeks of treatment, average phlebotomy events declined from 4.0 in the 26 weeks before treatment to 0.6 in the following 26 weeks, representing a statistically significant change with p<0.0001.

Disc Medicine is developing treatments targeting disorders involving blood production and iron regulation, including polycythemia vera and sickle cell disease.

The company said it plans additional RESTORE-PV and sickle cell disease updates while preparing selcodebart (DISC-0974) for potential pivotal development in myelofibrosis anemia.
