Trade Data Hasn't Caught Up With Trump Policy Changes, Says Peter Harrell

Peter Harrell, former White House senior director for international economics in the Biden Administration and visiting scholar at Georgetown, said President Trump has not brought tariff rates back to their original rate because war with Iran has driven energy prices higher. Harrell also said that while US trade and investment policy has changed, the data coming into the administration and out to the public has not yet caught up and it remains an question what the impact of these changes will be.
