Bristol Myers reports CAR-T trial results
- Bristol Myers Squibb reported positive Phase 2 QUINTESSENTIAL results for arlocabtagene autoleucel (arlo-cel) in patients with heavily treated relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma.
- The trial met its primary endpoint for overall response rate and key secondary endpoints for complete response rate in quadruple-class exposed patients.
- The company said arlo-cel could provide a potential treatment option targeting GPRC5D, a protein independent of BCMA expression.
Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY) reported positive Phase 2 QUINTESSENTIAL trial results for arlocabtagene autoleucel (arlo-cel) in adults with quadruple-class exposed relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma.
The registrational Phase 2 trial met its primary endpoint by showing a statistically significant and clinically meaningful overall response rate in patients who had received four or more prior lines of therapy.
“These topline results support arlo-cel's potential benefit for patients while showing a safety profile consistent with expectations,” said Lynelle B. Hoch, President of Cell Therapy Organization at Bristol Myers Squibb.
The study also met key secondary endpoints measuring complete response rate in patients with four or more prior therapies and overall response rate and complete response rate in patients who had received three or more prior lines of therapy.
The company reported that arlo-cel’s safety profile was consistent with other CAR T-cell therapies and GPRC5D-targeting treatments used in multiple myeloma, with results from the trial planned for presentation at an upcoming medical meeting.
