BlackBerry (NYSE:BB) reported its fiscal fourth-quarter and full-year 2026 financial results on April 9, 2026, highlighting a significant turnaround in profitability driven by record demand for its automotive and embedded software division.

The Waterloo, Ontario-based company achieved total revenue of $156 million for the fourth quarter, representing a 10% increase compared to the same period last year.

For the full fiscal year 2026, revenue reached $549.1 million, a 3% year-over-year improvement.

Most notably, the company reported a positive GAAP net income of $24.3 million for the quarter and $53.2 million for the full year, marking a successful shift away from prior-year losses.

The standout performer within the portfolio was the QNX business unit, which recorded record quarterly revenue of $78.7 million, a 20% jump from the previous year.

The growth in QNX—BlackBerry's foundational software for automotive safety and industrial IoT—has pushed the company’s royalty backlog to a near-record $950 million.

This backlog represents future recurring revenue as QNX-equipped vehicles transition from design phases into mass production.

Meanwhile, BlackBerry’s underlying financial health showed marked improvement, with adjusted EBITDA rising to $36.1 million for the quarter and $107.1 million for the full fiscal year.

The company’s focus on cost-efficiency and high-margin software licenses also bolstered its liquidity, with operating cash flow reaching $45.6 million in the fourth quarter and $50.3 million for the full year.
