Baidu (NASDAQ:BIDU) launched fully driverless Apollo Go robotaxis on Uber (NYSE:UBER) in Dubai, allowing riders in selected areas of Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah to request autonomous vehicles through Uber Comfort, UberX or an “Autonomous” option.
The Dubai launch marks Apollo Go’s first market with both a self-operated application and a third-party platform model, while the partnership follows broader expansion efforts in autonomous transportation services.
The rollout introduces a fleet operated by New Horizon Luxury Transport and allows users to access Apollo Go vehicles through Uber’s platform in designated Dubai locations.
Baidu said the multi-year partnership is intended to bring thousands of Apollo Go vehicles to Uber across global markets, although the company did not provide a specific deployment timeline or vehicle count for Dubai.
Baidu’s Apollo Go business develops autonomous driving technology and robotaxi services, with deployments in multiple cities as the company expands commercial testing and operations.
Baidu operates across internet services, artificial intelligence, and autonomous driving technologies, while Uber continues expanding its mobility platform through partnerships with autonomous vehicle companies.
