ArcelorMittal Ukraine strike kills two, injures 13

ArcelorMittal (NYSE:MT) said a missile strike hit its Kryvyi Rih steel operation in Ukraine, killing two people, injuring 13 and partially halting production.

The plant was operating when the attack occurred, with the strike damaging key production facilities in its energy and blast furnace units.

ArcelorMittal said one employee and one contractor staff member were killed, while the 13 injured employees and contractors are receiving treatment in city medical facilities.

Production processes have been partially suspended as specialists assess the extent of the damage and determine options and timing for restoring operations.

ArcelorMittal said further operational updates will be provided as assessments continue.

Following the announcement, ArcelorMittal's share price was up 0.9% at $73.86 in pre-market trading.

ArcelorMittal generated $61.4 billion of revenue in 2025 while producing 55.6 million metric tonnes of crude steel and 48.8 million tonnes of iron ore.

The steelmaker reported second-quarter 2026 core earnings of $2.06 billion and has continued operating across Europe, the Americas, Asia and its global mining portfolio.
