Apogee Therapeutics secures $1.3B Blackstone financing for Phase 3 drug launch

Apogee Therapeutics (NASDAQ:APGE) has entered into a strategic financing collaboration with Blackstone Life Sciences, securing up to $1.3 billion in flexible, non-dilutive capital.

The funding is earmarked to advance the Phase 3 clinical development and potential commercial launch of its lead drug candidate, zumilokibart, an experimental treatment for moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis.

The structured financing agreement consists of two primary components designed to minimize shareholder dilution.

Apogee will have access to up to $800 million in synthetic royalty funding alongside an additional facility of up to $500 million in senior corporate debt.

By utilizing a mix of royalties and debt rather than issuing new shares, the clinical-stage biotechnology company avoids the typical market downward pressure associated with secondary equity offerings during expensive late-stage trials.

The injection of capital significantly alters Apogee's long-term financial architecture.

When combined with the company’s existing cash reserves of $1.3 billion, management believes the Blackstone agreement establishes a self-sustainable financial profile.

According to the company, this combined capital pool is projected to fully fund operations and clinical milestones through potential commercialization across multiple indications, eliminating the requirement for future equity financing under its current development timeline.
