America’s Car-Mart revenue falls 57% in FY27

America’s Car-Mart (NASDAQ:CRMT) reported first quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of $145.8 million, down 57.3% year over year as retail vehicle sales declined 81.9% to 2,450 units.

The company’s contraction followed reductions in inventory, dealership operations, and vehicle sales capacity, with average dealerships in operation falling 39% to 94 locations after prior-year consolidations.

Inventory declined 68.7% to $35.2 million, gross margin decreased to 21.8% from 36.6%, and the company recorded a $4.7 million loss from third-party wholesale sales as it moved to sell substantially all repossessed vehicles.

Net charge-offs increased to 9.5% of average finance receivables, accounts more than 30 days past due rose to 4.6%, and total debt decreased 19.5% year over year to $623.9 million.

America’s Car-Mart operates used vehicle dealerships and provides financing for customers purchasing pre-owned vehicles, primarily serving smaller communities across the United States.
