  • ALZpath signed a global licensing agreement with Abbott (NYSE:ABT) to use its pTau217 antibody in Alzheimer’s blood test development.
  • The test will be developed for Abbott’s Alinity ci-series diagnostic systems.
  • The goal is to enable scalable blood-based Alzheimer’s detection as an alternative to PET scans and spinal fluid testing.

ALZpath has entered a global licensing agreement with Abbott (NYSE:ABT) to support the development of an in vitro diagnostic blood test for Alzheimer’s disease using its proprietary pTau217 antibody.

The antibody will be integrated into Abbott’s Alinity ci-series systems, which are widely used in clinical laboratories for diagnostic testing.

The pTau217 antibody is supported by more than 200 scientific publications across 18 countries and is linked to biomarkers associated with Alzheimer’s disease progression.

The companies said the goal is to create a scalable blood-based diagnostic alternative to PET imaging and cerebrospinal fluid analysis for earlier detection and monitoring of Alzheimer’s disease.

The collaboration reflects growing industry focus on accessible biomarker-based diagnostics to improve early intervention in neurodegenerative diseases.
