AbbVie reports positive migraine trial results

AbbVie (NYSE:ABBV) reported positive Phase 3 LUNA trial topline results for atogepant, showing reduced migraine days in women with menstrual migraine.
The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study evaluated 468 adult women who received atogepant for seven consecutive days beginning three days before menstruation over three menstrual cycles.
Atogepant reduced migraine days during the perimenstrual period by an average of 1.20 days compared with 0.40 days for placebo, resulting in 0.80 fewer migraine days versus placebo with statistical significance.
All eight ranked secondary endpoints showed statistically significant improvements compared with placebo, including measures of headache burden, acute medication use, functional disability, cognitive function, and responder outcomes.
AbbVie said safety findings were consistent with the known safety profile of atogepant, with no new safety signals observed, and plans to submit LUNA data to health authorities worldwide.
