Zcash remained rangebound between $400 and $430 over the past four days, with the privacy-focused cryptocurrency trading around $427 after gaining 2.6% on the day and 8% over the week.

Market attention has shifted to a large leveraged position opened by trader Garret Jin, who expanded a 2x long position to approximately 50,100 ZEC worth about $21.3 million, according to Hypurrscan data.

The position has already faced pressure from market volatility, with unrealised losses of roughly $654,000 and funding costs exceeding $57,000, but the move suggests continued confidence that ZEC can break above its current trading range.

Despite the whale’s bullish stance, broader sentiment remains cautious as Long/Short Ratios across major exchanges continue to favour bearish traders.

Aggregate positioning stood near 0.98, while ratios on exchanges including Binance and OKX were closer to 0.6, indicating that short positions outnumber long positions across much of the market.

At the same time, futures activity increased sharply, with more than $122 million flowing into derivatives markets during the past eight hours after approximately $571 million in outflows over the previous day.

Technical indicators continue to favour sellers, with the Bulls vs Bears indicator registering -8.04 and the SMI Ergodic Indicator remaining below zero, both of which point to ongoing downside pressure.

If bearish momentum persists, ZEC could retest support near $400, but rising open interest and heavy short positioning leave open the possibility of a short squeeze that could push the cryptocurrency above $430 and toward the next major resistance area near $500.
