Ukrainian authorities have arrested an FBI-wanted suspect linked to a cybercrime network that caused over $100 million in losses across the US and Europe.

The suspect was detained in Uzhhorod after allegedly living under a false identity using forged documents, including fake records claiming his own death.

“He issued fictitious documents about his own death and continued to live in Ukraine as a ‘new’ person, using false documents,”

Prosecutors said.

Authorities said the network used malware to steal personal and corporate data, later extorting victims by demanding payments, often in cryptocurrency.

Investigators seized around $11 million in assets, including $3 million in crypto, alongside cash, property and vehicles tied to laundering activities. Following the announcement the Ukraine enforcement position was unchanged at $XX.

Officials also identified additional accomplices and uncovered financial discrepancies pointing to large-scale illicit wealth accumulation across the network.

The case adds to a series of recent cybercrime crackdowns, including the disruption of another hacking group earlier this year linked to ransomware attacks on US companies.
