U.S. Bank has completed a live cross-border payment using its USBDC stablecoin on the Stellar blockchain.
The transaction moved value between U.S. Bank entities in North America and Europe through a public blockchain.
“U.S. Bank successfully executed a live pilot transaction using USBDC, our proprietary U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin,” the bank said.
The pilot connected USBDC to the bank’s finance, risk, compliance and operations systems through its Digital Asset Platform.
U.S. Bank also tested minting, redemption, freezing and clawback functions during the transaction.
The bank has not disclosed the transaction value, settlement time, reserve structure or a commercial launch date for USBDC.
U.S. Bank is now exploring liquidity management, collateral mobility and cross-border treasury operations using the stablecoin.
