  • Fundstrat’s Tom Lee disputed Michael Burry’s warning about $3 trillion in AI commitments.
  • The Wall Street Journal identified $3 trillion in off-balance-sheet AI commitments across nine technology companies.
  • Lee said the figures need more context and do not alone show an Enron-style risk.

Fundstrat’s Tom Lee challenged Michael Burry’s warning about $3 trillion in AI commitments.

Burry has increased his short position in Nvidia while comparing its $500 billion AI financing deal with Enron-era practices.

The Wall Street Journal identified $1.2 trillion in future leases and $1.9 trillion in chip purchase agreements across nine technology companies.

Lee said financial commitments can look much larger than the cash involved because companies may not record them immediately.

The discussion centres on whether rising AI spending will generate enough productivity gains to support the commitments.

Lee is also chairman of BitMine, which held 5.8 million Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH), equal to 4.8% of supply, on August 17.

At the time of reporting, Ethereum price was $2,260.17.
