Tether said Tether Gold (CRYPTO:XAU₮) has received Shariah certification from Amanah Advisors, confirming the token meets key Islamic finance principles.
The company said the certification could expand access to Tether Gold for Islamic banks, institutions and investors seeking Shariah-compliant digital gold.
“Gold has always represented stability and trust across cultures and generations,” said Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino.
Tether said each XAU₮ token is backed by one troy ounce of physical gold stored in Swiss vaults with identifiable gold bars.
The company said the certification confirms Tether Gold avoids interest, uses physical backing and follows Islamic finance principles.
Tether said the approval could support wider use of Tether Gold across the Gulf, South Asia, parts of Africa and other Islamic finance markets.
The announcement follows Tether Gold's recognition as an accepted spot commodity within Abu Dhabi Global Market.
