Tether has backed Bolivian fintech Peso in a pre-seed funding round to expand USDT payments across Latin America.

Peso connects Tether (USDT) payments with retail services, e-commerce, food delivery and banking infrastructure.

“This aligns with our goal to promote financial inclusion,” Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said in a statement.

Peso users in Bolivia can order food through Yango and pay directly with USDT inside the app.

Peso also offers QR payments and virtual accounts that connect stablecoin balances with Bolivia’s banking system through QR and ACH networks.

The funding will support Peso’s expansion across Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina, including local channels for converting between stablecoins and national currencies.

Peso’s app provides a global USDT account for saving, spending, investing and sending money across borders, alongside merchant payment services.

Following the announcement, USDT remained designed to maintain a value of US$1.
