  • SpaceX launched its first public bond sale, offering at least US$25 billion of senior unsecured notes across five maturities.
  • The company plans to use proceeds to repay bridge financing and fund corporate initiatives, including artificial intelligence infrastructure.
  • Investor demand reportedly exceeded US$85 billion, more than three times the size of the offering.

SpaceX launched its inaugural bond offering, seeking to raise at least US$25 billion through a sale of senior unsecured notes as the company expands investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The debt sale comes less than two weeks after SpaceX completed its public listing, with the offering structured across five-, seven-, 10-, 20- and 30-year maturities to provide long-term financing flexibility.

The proceeds will be used for bridge loan repayments and other corporate purposes, with artificial intelligence infrastructure representing a significant area of planned investment, according to company disclosures.

SpaceX said the funding will support expenditures on data centres, computing hardware, semiconductor capacity and power infrastructure required for its artificial intelligence initiatives.

The offering reportedly attracted nearly US$85 billion in orders, exceeding the targeted raise by more than three times, while SpaceX shares were higher on Tuesday following the announcement.

The company recently received investment-grade credit ratings, which broadened access to institutional debt investors and helped support the bond issuance at competitive borrowing costs.

SpaceX completed its public market debut on June 12 and has since experienced share price volatility, with the company reportedly losing approximately US$400 billion in market value after an initial rally following its listing.
