South Korean PCB makers post Q2 boom on AI server demand

  • South Korean printed circuit board and packaging substrate manufacturers delivered strong second-quarter results, with Citrini analyst Jukan projecting continued momentum and improved profit expectations for the third quarter.
  • Daeduck Electronics reported Q2 revenue of 401 billion Korean won, up 63% year-on-year, with operating profit surging 3,599% year-on-year to 70.3 billion Korean won.
  • Simmtech recorded Q2 revenue of 514.6 billion Korean won, up 51% year-on-year, while operating profit rose 1,035% year-on-year to 62.9 billion Korean won.

TLB posted Q2 revenue of 88.2 billion Korean won, up 38% year-on-year, with operating profit growing 86% year-on-year to 12.8 billion Korean won.

Jukan identified Daeduck Electronics' core competitive strengths as its FC-BGA and FC-CSP semiconductor packaging substrates and multi-layer printed circuit boards required for artificial intelligence data centres.

Simmtech's product focus centres on packaging substrates and storage module printed circuit boards, whilst TLB primarily supplies server DDR5 and enterprise solid-state drive-related printed circuit board products.

Jukan noted that as leading industry players including Taiwan's Unimicron prioritise production capacity for higher-value ABF substrates and reduce BT substrate output, some BT substrate orders are expected to shift to South Korean manufacturers, creating new growth opportunities for Daeduck Electronics and Simmtech.

SOCAMM is emerging as a significant new growth variable in the sector, with demand for SOCAMM printed circuit boards expected to accelerate as NVIDIA's next-generation artificial intelligence platforms, the Vera Rubin GPU and Vera CPU, enter the shipment phase.

Simmtech and TLB have been identified as the primary South Korean beneficiaries of rising SOCAMM demand, positioning them as key suppliers within the expanding artificial intelligence infrastructure supply chain.

The combination of AI data centre investment growth, production capacity reallocation from Taiwanese competitors, and the NVIDIA Vera platform product cycle creates a confluence of demand drivers that analysts believe will sustain the South Korean PCB sector's elevated performance into the second half of 2026.
