Samsung Electronics plans stablecoin features across more than 800 million new Galaxy smartphones through Samsung Wallet.
Samsung Wallet has nearly 19 million South Korean users and is currently available across 61 countries.
“This will make Samsung one of the first major mobile phone brands to offer native stablecoins on smartphones,” Samsung manager Lee Dinham said.
The planned features include stablecoin savings and payment accounts, although Samsung has not disclosed expected user numbers.
Analysts said the rollout could make Samsung a major distributor of USD Coin (CRYPTO:USDC), but adoption remains uncertain.
Samsung affiliates also agreed to buy 4% of Dunamu, which operates crypto exchange Upbit, for US$408 million.
South Korea is separately considering digital asset legislation covering trading, custody, supervision and stablecoin issuance, with no approval deadline set.
