Attackers claiming responsibility for the Revolut breach have demanded 6,000 Monero (CRYPTO:XMR), worth about US$3 million.
The group claims to have obtained records from about 680 customers after posing as Italian law enforcement officials.
Revolut has described the incident as an external impersonation scam and said its systems and customer funds remain unaffected.
The attackers allegedly used a legitimate Italian government email system to send requests for specific customer information.
The requested records reportedly included names, addresses, account details, crypto transactions, KYC documents and verification images.
The group has claimed it selected some targets using blockchain analysis to identify Revolut users with significant crypto activity.
The latest demand replaces an earlier reported Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) ransom, while Revolut has said it had not received a direct demand when the public ultimatum appeared.
At the time of reporting, Monero price was $503.08.
