Republican senator seeks Senate probe into Trump sons’ crypto ventures
- GOP Senator John Curtis requested Senate Judiciary Committee subpoenas for Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden.
- The probe targets family-backed digital asset promotions, CFTC-regulated prediction markets, and foreign ties.
- Escalating congressional scrutiny comes as federal crypto market-structure legislation remains stalled in the Senate.
US Senator John Curtis has requested the Senate Judiciary Committee subpoena Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden over their digital asset promotions and foreign business ties.
The request targets potential conflicts of interest surrounding presidential family members leveraging executive access for private financial gain.
"A toaster is a wedding gift. A private-island party paid for by a Putin-connected oligarch is something else," US Senator John Curtis said in a post on X
Scrutiny focuses on Donald Trump Jr.'s promotion of family-backed crypto platforms and advisory roles with CFTC-regulated prediction markets.
"Republicans nearly wore out the subpoena machine investigating Hunter Biden's foreign relationships. We should not unplug it now," Curtis added.
Curtis addressed the request to Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley and ranking member Dick Durbin, calling for scrutiny of the two presidential families’ business dealings.
The proposal follows political deadlocks on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which failed to advance amid ongoing ethical debates over presidential crypto holdings.
The request comes as the Senate’s broader digital asset market-structure legislation remains stalled after the CLARITY Act failed to advance.
