  • Qivalis has received authorisation as an Electronic Money Institution from the Dutch central bank.
  • The consortium is backed by 37 European banks across 15 countries.
  • The authorisation advances Qivalis’s plans for a regulated euro-denominated stablecoin under Europe’s crypto rules.

Qivalis B.V. received Electronic Money Institution authorisation from De Nederlandsche Bank on 14 October 2026, clearing a key regulatory step towards issuing its euro stablecoin.

The Amsterdam-based company plans to launch a euro-denominated electronic money token within the coming months, subject to applicable requirements.

“Europe's currency deserves Europe's rules - on-chain,” Qivalis CEO Jan-Oliver Sell said in a statement.

The authorisation places Qivalis under ongoing Dutch central bank supervision and makes it eligible to issue euro-denominated electronic money tokens.

Qivalis must still meet the applicable requirements under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) and publish its white paper before issuance.

The company plans to distribute its token through eligible counterparties, including banks, cryptocurrency exchanges, payment providers and financial market infrastructure participants.

Founded in September 2025, Qivalis operates independently and receives backing from 37 European banks across 15 countries, with European oversight and infrastructure.

The authorisation advances Qivalis’s plan to develop a regulated euro-denominated settlement asset, although the company states it does not yet issue electronic money or provide public payment services.
