Privacy coins have surged as investors rotate into Zcash and Monero while Bitcoin remains below its October 2025 peak.
The privacy sector has gained 213% since Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) set a record above US$126,000 on October 6, 2025.
Glassnode data shows the sector’s market value has risen from US$7.1 billion to US$33.6 billion over the past year.
Zcash (CRYPTO:ZEC) now represents about 62% of the sector after its value rose more than 25 times over the past year.
Zcash also gained wider institutional access after Grayscale converted its trust into an exchange-traded product on August 25.
Monero (CRYPTO:XMR) has roughly doubled over the past year, despite several major exchanges removing the token from their platforms.
Privacy coins still face regulatory pressure, with new European Union rules set to restrict some anonymous crypto services from July 2027.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $77,933.84.
